Dumbo

This gene has not been scientifically described, but since its import from the US via Europe a few years ago, it has become one of the most popular rat varieties.

• Du - Wildtype, a "no effect" gene. Dominant
• du - Dumbo (recessive). Moves the ears to the side of the skull, and makes them somewhat flatter.

There are no health problems associated with this mutation, and there seem to be no limitations as to colour/markings it can be bred in. It is completely recessive, so there is no way to tell a dumbo carrier Du/du from a Du/Du rat except of course through parentage or breeding results.
