Pink Eye Dilute

Pink eye dilute is a very common colour in the UK, although at the moment more common in pet shops than in show rats. It is a well known mutation:

• P - Black, wild type dominant so really "no effect"
• p - Pink eye (recessive), dilutes black pigment to a pale creamy colour

No other mutations at this locus have been reported. In mice this locus is linked to the c locus, although I am not aware if there is any linkage in rats.
