The fancy rat comes in many different colours, markings, and types. Here is a guide to some colours, markings, types and fur types. This section will be constantly updated, and I hope to eventually add a picture for every variety, as well as a full description (the NFRS standard wherever possible).

There are varieties not listed, these will be added later. If you spot any mistakes, please mail me and tell me! This is not meant to be a complete or definitive guide, just an overview. It is as non-technical as I can make it, and there are further pieces on the genes that make up these colours and varieties being added.

Photos where given are just meant to give a general idea of the overall colour - factors such as lighting and the camera used, as well as the colour on your monitor will give slightly different colours. Where possible I have included multiple photos of one variety to give the best possible impression of the colour/marking, and sometimes clicking on the photos will give you more photos to view.
